Intro to Pattern Making

Service Description

Learn the foundational skills of pattern making in a hands-on, personalized setting. These private classes are designed to help you confidently draft and modify your basic pattern blocks. Each session is a 2-hour one-on-one class where you'll build on own basic blocks that are provided for you. You will understand garment construction, and explore creative variations. All materials are provided, so you can focus entirely on learning and creating. Materials provided during sessions: - A binder with sleeves to store your patterns - A PDF copy of Metric Pattern Cutting for Women’s Wear by Winifred Aldrich (2011) - Construction paper and tracing paper - French curve, ruler, measuring tape - Pencils, erasers, sharpener, and Sharpie - Access to a half-size dress form 🧵 Class Options: Students can choose specific classes based on interest, or take the full series at a discounted rate. Bodice – $100 - Learn the structure of a basic bodice block - Modify darts to create new designs - Create a facing pattern Skirt – $100 - Draft a classic skirt block - Explore pleated, mermaid, gored, and vent pleat styles - Make a waistband pattern Sleeves – $100 - Understand the anatomy of a sleeve block - Create lantern, bishop, gathered cuff, and flared sleeves Dress – $100 - Design patterns for empire, princess, and gathered dresses Full Course (All 4 Classes) – $390 Save by taking the full course and gain a comprehensive understanding of garment construction from the ground up. When booking, simply indicate which class you’d like to start with—or take them all in sequence for a complete pattern making foundation. Classes can be held at Anu Rana's Healthy Kitchen after hours, 7pm - 9 pm, or at your home (you pick the time!).
