NEW SEWING COURSES AT THE VASHON CENTER OF THE ARTS
Give new life to old textiles and turn sweaters, blankets, and flannels into a cozy upcycled patchwork scarf. Learn how to safely use a sewing machine, choose and prepare the right types of fabrics, design a patchwork layout, and stitch your pieces into a one-of-a-kind scarf. No previous sewing experience is required. All tools, machines, and supplemental fabric scraps are provided.
Ages: 16-Adult | Wednesdays, Feb 4-March 4

Turn thrifted or reclaimed fabric into a simple reversible tote bag in this class that focuses on sustainability and building confidence. Bring your own upcycled fabric (or use some we’ll have on hand) and learn how to measure, cut, and sew on a machine. We’ll cover sewing straight seams, creating boxed corners, attaching sturdy straps, and topstitching. You will leave with a finished tote and the basic skills to keep sewing on your own.
Ages: 10-14 | Sunday, March 22
